President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih relayed his wishes for a speedy recovery to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson yesterday, on behalf of himself, the Government and people of the Maldives. The Prime Minister tested positive for the novel coronavirus, COVID-19 eleven days ago, and has been hospitalized in London to treat his symptoms. He was moved into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) last night in relation to his symptoms worsening.

In his message, President Solih expressed his deep concern for the Prime Minister’s health and wished him a speedy recovery. The President ended his message by reiterating his hope that global efforts to halt the spread of the coronavirus, both individual and collective, prove successful, and by emphasizing the unwavering ties of friendship between the Maldives and the United Kingdom.
