The Cabinet of Ministers was briefed today on the latest measures being taken by the government in regards to the incline in the COVID-19 in the Maldives. The Cabinet was brief today during the Cabinet working session held at the Presidents Office, by a joint team of technical staff and experts from Ministry of Health, Health Protection Agency, National Disaster Management Authority and Senior Officials from the Technical Advisory Board.
The working session was mainly focused on the new measures enacted across the country prompted by the confirmation of two cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives. Further discussions were conducted regarding the rate at which this virus is spreading across the world, the ongoing work and measures taken by National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) and information on future measures to be taken if the outbreak is not contained.
The Cabinet Ministers noted the effectual level of preparation Maldives has undergone over the past few weeks to combat this virus and shared further suggestions on strengthening existing safeguards. The Cabinet also held discussions on the different angles of organizing the needs that are expected to arise due to the fast-changing nature of the situation.
