The Committee mandated to investigate complaints lodged regarding Government Housing Schemes has today shared a timeline of their work on reassessment of “Hiyaa Project” applications.

The Committee stated that they had found several inconsistencies with the initial evaluation of applications, detailing that they were unable to find any documentation on the guidelines for reviewing the living standards utilised by the Ministry prior to awarding social housing under “Hiyaa Project”. The Committee further stated that a guideline has now been compiled for inspections for evaluating living standards following consultation with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

The Committee noted that the living standards can only be assessed properly by conducting house visits. They further revealed that representatives have started visiting homes for inspection of living standards of applicants from categories H4، H5، H6، H10، H12، H13،H14، H15 and will proceed with other categories as the applications are put through the review process.

The Committee was established by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on 11th December 2018 to investigate all issues related to housing projects of previous governments including “Hiyaa Project”, “Gedhoruveri kurun” project and “Gulhifalhu Housing Project”.
