Vice President Faisal Naseem has met with the Councillors and institutional representatives of Dhiggaru Island of Meemu Atoll. The meeting was held as part of his ongoing visit to the Island to attend the official ceremony to mark the 31st National Poets' Day.
During the meeting, Councillors shared information on urgent issues within the lsland, including beach erosion, coastal protection and land reclamation. In addition, they also raised concerns regarding the harbour upgrading project and installation of a proper waste management facility. Discussions at the meeting also touched upon upgrading healthcare and basic utilities and improving education and higher education services in the Island.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice President Faisal Naseem mentioned the collaborative effort shown by the Island’s institutions and residents in arranging and organising the 31st National Poets' Day celebration event. Moreover, Vice President urged the Councillors and representatives to work collaboratively in resolving various issues in the society and to work toward achieving social harmony.
The Vice President also affirmed that the Administration would work with relevant stakeholders to address the challenges raised by the residents of the Island.
