Vice President Faisal Naseem has met with councillors from Guraidhoo Island of Kaafu atoll. The meeting was held at the President’s office this afternoon.

Guraidhoo councillors discussed developmental plans projected for the year and matters of importance to the island community back at Guraidhoo. They shared challenges in proper waste management, concerns regarding the proposed land reclamation project and expressed their concerns to the Vice President regarding space constraints at the island school.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice President Faisal Naseem noted that local councils are granted immense authority with the amendment of the Decentralization Act, urging the Councillors to consult with their constituents and work closely with the communities.

The Vice President ensured council members that the administration will take necessary action after discussing with relevant line ministries, to address the specific issues and concerns raised by members of the Guraidhoo Island Council.
