President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed a new Justice to the Supreme Court of the Maldives. The President presented the letter of appointment to Justice Uz Mahaz Ali Zahir at a ceremony held at the President’s Office this afternoon.

The appointment was made under the powers vested in him under Article 148 (a) of the Maldivian Constitution, authorising the President on the appointment of Justices to the Supreme Court of the Maldives, following consultation from the Judicial Services Commission (JSC) and with the majority approval from the lawmakers present and voting at the People’s Majlis.

Chief Justice Dr Ahmed Abdulla Didi administered the oath for Justice Uz Mahaz Ali Zahir today at the President’s office. Justice Uz Mahaz Ali Zahir then signed the pledge of the oath upon assuming office.
