President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has today met with Councillors of Magoodhoo Island of North Nilandhe Atoll and enquired about the needs and concerns of the people and ongoing and future development plans of the island. The meeting was held at the President’s Office this afternoon.

Speaking at the meeting, President Solih said that the government had recently announced the administration’s Strategic Action Plan (SAP) and that all future development efforts and plans will reflect to SAP as a reference point.

During the meeting, Magoodhoo Councillors conveyed details of several concerns and pressing issues such as the lack of water and sanitation networks and limitations in access to healthcare and utilities. The councillors also discussed connecting existing solar panels in the island to the power grid and the development of a football stadium in the island.

Speaking at the meeting, the President shared updates and timelines of projects marked within the scope of the 2019 government budget. Furthermore, The President added that the government is working on aligning all future development plans to the administration’s SAP and that the SAP will allow the progress of development plans to be more definite and clear.

Concerning individual delays and unresolved issues, the President expressed that these would be taken up with relevant line ministries to ensure that they are given due attention.
