Vice President Faisal Naseem has met with the Councillors from Kihaadhoo Island Council of South Maalhosmadulu Atoll. Discussions at the meeting, held at the President’s Office this afternoon, were focussed on the developmental plans and concerns regarding the most pertinent issues and urgent needs faced by the residents of the island.
During the meeting, Kihaadhoo Councillors shared concerns regarding difficulties in using the island’s harbour, the contamination of the islands freshwater lens due to lack of a water and sanitation network, lack of a means to provide enough electricity to meet the needs of the populace and issues related to the improvements needed for the school.
The Councillors also relayed details of the efforts undertaken by the council to provide a recreational park for children and work done to manage waste on the island.
Regarding the issues raised by the Councillors, the Vice President stated that the administration would take necessary action after discussing with relevant ministries to address the specific questions and concerns.
