Vice President Faisal Naseem says that no tourism-related project is too large and that no vision is too bold to not be able to thrive in the Maldives. The Vice President made the remarks, speaking at the function held to officially inaugurate CROSSROADS Maldives—the country’s first and largest multi-island integrated resort project.
Congratulating Singha Estate PCL in the impressive achievement, the Vice President assured that the administration is committed to encouraging visionaries and entrepreneurs from all across the globe to successfully invest in business ventures in the Maldives. He said the Maldives welcomes foreign investments and building more mutually beneficial partnerships —which would help us “in our overarching goal of securing a better future for the Maldivian people.”
Noting that CROSSROADS Maldives is the country’s first-ever truly integrated tourist destination, Vice President Faisal Naseem noted that it provides resources to better understand the Maldives: the Maldives Cultural Centre is a place to catch a glimpse of Maldives’ rich history and heritage, and promote local arts and crafts, while the Marine Discovery Centre will help visitors understand the environmental situation. “Initiatives such as these will help underscore the paramount importance of ensuring that these assets are preserved well into the future,” he asserted.
Expressing confidence that the project will help boost the economy, the Vice President identified that it will provide several employment opportunities to the youth who are eager to unlock their potential by pursuing careers in the hospitality industry. He further expressed his hope that women would take up the employment opportunities at CROSSROADS Maldives. “It is the aim of this government to ensure that women are able to participate in all our key industries on an equal footing with men,” he further said.
Developed by Singha Estate PCL and its hospitality sector S Hotels & Resorts, CROSSROADS Maldives spans a seven-kilometre long lagoon and nine islands—the “lifestyle destination” offers 11,000 square metres of retail space, world-class facilities and eight resorts; two of which are now open—Hard Rock Hotel Maldives and SAii Lagoon Maldives, Curio Collection by Hilton. Both hotels offer direct access to the array of leisure and lifestyle options available at The Marina @ CROSSROADS.
Following the official opening ceremony, Vice President Faisal Naseem toured the property including the Maldives Discovery Centre.
