President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with members of the island council and senior institutional representatives of Kudafaree Island of South Miladhunmadulu Atoll. The meeting took place this evening at the Kudafaree School.
During the meeting, the Councillors and institutional representatives provided the President with an overview of their concerns, needs and listed the most frequently cited issues raised by their constituents. In this regards, they shed light on the issues faced by the constituents due to soil erosion, electricity outages, harbour difficulties, healthcare requirements and the need for educational development.
Representatives from the Kudafaree School also took the opportunity to personally thank and express their appreciation to the President for initiating the 'Smart School' program at their institution.
Speaking at the meeting, the President shared updates and timelines of projects marked within the scope of the 2019 government budget. He affirmed that the government will work on finding a quick solution to the electricity issue and also shared the latest information on the additional classroom block to be built in the school.
The President further stated that the government would work together with relevant line ministries in addressing the issues raised by the representatives of the islands institution.
