Vice President Faisal Naseem has met with members of the Thaa Atoll Council this morning at the President's Office. The Councilors provided the Vice President an overview of their concerns and listed the most frequently cited issues raised by their constituents.
The Councillors spoke on the need to resolve staffing and remuneration issues in the atoll's healthcare centres, as well as ensuring that their quality is standardized across the region; empowering women's development committees, especially with regard to facilitating their ability to register and operate business ventures; and also on the need to improve ferry services for connectivity between the Atoll's Islands.
The Vice President noted that the governments health, decentralization and transport policies are intended to resolve the very concerns that the councilors have raised, and that as the provisions contained in President Solih's administration's polcies become manifest, they will ameliorate these recurrent problems.
With regard to individual delays and unresolved issues the Vice President expressed that these would be taken up with relevant line ministries to ensure that they are given due attention.
