Vice President Faisal Naseem has met with members of the Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi Island Council and prominent shipowners from the island. The meeting took place today, at the Secretariat of the Kulhudhuffushi Island Council.

The Councillors shared several concerns during the meeting, such as space scarcity at the island schools, issues concerning the waste disposal and shared their interest in promoting the tourism industry within the Atoll. The Councillors also noted the concerns of the shipowners regarding the harbour. The shipowners also reiterated the position of the councillors by asserting that the harbour development operations that are currently ongoing are not progressing in a fashion that is most efficient for the shipowners, the most frequent users of the harbour, and requested for a prompt solution to this issue.


The Vice President made note of the requests and remarked that this administration aims to work closely with all constituents and that all grievances are considered important. The Vice President also affirmed that he would raise the requests to the relevant line ministries and gave his confidence that he would make his best effort to take steps to reach an amicable and constructive solution.

Following the meeting, the Vice President visited Kulhudhuffushi Hospital and enquired on the progress of the patients seeking treatment there.
