President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with members of South Maalhosmadulu Atoll Kihaadhoo Councillors and senior officials and high ranking members of the island's institutions. The meetings took place at the Secretariat for the Island Council in Kihaadhoo this morning.
During the meeting, the Councillors shared some of the most urgent and pertinent issues being faced by their constituents, as well as requirements and hindrances for the future development of the island. Some of the issues mentioned included difficulties faced in utilizing the island harbour to its full capacity, the island sewerage system, as well as concerns regarding the island healthcare facilities and the educational prospects. The Councillors also mentioned the alarming rate of soil erosion from the beaches and discussed possible projects that can alleviate these issues and bring further progress and prosperity to the islanders.
The President noted the concerns and updated the Councillors regarding new projects approved by his administration which may address some of the issues raised, and stated that their concerns will be shared with the relevant line ministries to find appropriate solutions.
