Whilst officially presiding over the ceremonial inauguration of Thilafushi’s first-ever Health Clinic, Vice President Faisal Naseem has appealed to all parties to be mindful of and to respect the rights of workers. These remarks were apposite to the event as the Health Clinic will cater to the needs of the many workers currently employed in Thilafushi and Gulhifalhu.

The Vice President further expressed his delight that the many individuals who work in these two islands will finally have prompt access to efficient medical care. He further emphasized that the state and all citizens have a duty to ensure that workers’ immediate environments are safe and free of health hazards and that workers, like all citizens, are entitled to easy access to basic services such as affordable health-care.

The Vice President acknowledged our many debts to workers who are so vital to our country’s progress and expressed that just as employers have rights over their employees, employers have similar obligations to all those who work for them. He noted that all workers have basic rights that they are entitled to and further reiterated that it is imperative that these rights be protected.

Finally, the Vice President emphasized this administration's commitment to prioritize enhancing the Health Sector and restated that this administration will be undertaking several developmental initiatives specifically designed to exponentially advance health services.
