Vice President Faisal Naseem met with the City’s Councilors and discussed some of the major issues and concerns pertinent to the island’s governance and well-being. The meeting was held in Addu City today, during the Vice President's current visit to Addu City Islands and Fuvahmulah City.
The Councillors highlighted one of their key priorities as ensuring Addu’s power grid has the capacity to continue providing uninterrupted services to the growing number of large-scale infrastructure and development projects underway in the city, such as the newly built residential buildings, police academy and tertiary hospital.
Further, with the government’s assistance and input, they emphasized their keenness to commence work upgrading the city’s water and sewerage systems and to implement many further beneficial development projects.
During the meeting, the Vice President reiterated the high priority that this administration accords to Addu. Taking note of their concerns, he assured them that they would have the government’s full support in bringing their vision for Addu city to fruition. He further emphasized that this government would always seek the perspectives and input of councillors and the denizens of Addu before making policy level decisions which would affect them.
Further, during his visit to the island, the Vice President toured Addu’s High School and interacted with the students, imploring them to always strive for academic excellence and to keep up with foreign news so that they remain knowledgeable on world affairs.
During his visit to Hithadhoo, the Vice President also visited Hithadhoo’s regional hospital, power plant and enquired as to the work being done by MTCC.
