First Lady Fazna Ahmed has participated in Kalaafaanu School’s 'Green Run' held in celebration of their 30th anniversary at Maafannu Ekuveni track. The aforementioned run commenced Friday afternoon and consisted of several successive runs held throughout the day for a cumulative total of 30 hours - one for each year that the school has been in existence. Several of the school’s current and former students, collectively comprising of more than 2000 runners, participated in the run.
The First Lady ran in the final 30-minute round and following her successful completion, she was presented with one of the school’s historical flags. This event was further tied to the launching of a special exercise program in collaboration with ‘Live Life’, embracing the motto of 'eating well and exercising for good health and well-being'. As part of the event’s festivities, several entertainment stalls operated throughout the day and Zumba classes were conducted.
According to Kalaafaanu School, such a program within a schooling context is the first in the Maldives and has the approval of the world health community. Further, they highlighted that a student’s overall development should not be limited to performing well academically, but should also encompass developing the body whilst being mindful of health.
