President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that this Government’s most vital policy is ‘Zero Tolerance for Corruption’. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the ‘Strengthening of Corporate Governance’ Symposium held at National Arts Gallery this afternoon, the President went on to say that there’s no place for corruption in his Government regardless of position or prestige.
In his speech, the President pointed out that corruption can take place most easily within companies during the procurement and bidding process, and urged business owners to increase transparency within these functions to combat corruption. President Solih reiterated the importance of following the best practices laid out by the Government as Corporate Governance rules and regulations. He also encouraged all business owners and workers to abide by their ethical duty, especially while handling financial transactions and to try to elevate their relationship with the public through enhanced corporate social responsibility activities.
President Solih launched the ‘Corporate Governance Code’ during the symposium.
