The Special Advisor of the Prime Minister of Japan, His Excellency Kentaro Sonoura paid a courtesy call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, this morning at the President’s Office.
During the meeting the President thanked the Special Advisor for visiting the Maldives and for his participation and input at the ongoing Maldives Partnership Forum, highlighting the deep affection held by Japan to the Maldives.
Moreover, President acknowledged the substantial contribution made by Japan towards the Maldives' socio-economic betterment and for the recent generous assistance of a Fire Boat and Landing Craft, worth of 500,000,000 Japanese Yen.
Discussions were held regarding the President’s upcoming visit to Japan later this year. The President also extended an invitation for the Prime Minister of Japan, His Excellency Abe Shinzo, to undertake an official visit to the Maldives at a time of mutual convenience.
