President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Ahmed Khaleel to depart to Sri Lanka tonight as the Special Envoy of the President, to inquire on the condition of Maldivians who may have been affected following the explosions that occurred across Sri Lanka this morning, and to convey solidarity to the Sri Lankan government at this time of national distress.

During the visit, State Minister is scheduled to inquire on the condition of Maldivians and find out ways of assistance.

The number of casualties and injured as a result of these horrific acts continue to rise. The President also sent a message of condolence and conveyed firm solidarity with all those affected following the explosions in Sri Lanka.
