The State Secretary of Norway, Her Excellency Ms. Marianne Hagen made a courtesy call on His Excellency, Vice President Faisal Naseem this morning at the President’s Office.
Vice President Naseem welcomed the State Secretary to the Maldives and conveyed his sincere appreciation for the immense efforts made by the Norwegian government towards social development of other nations.
Moreover, the State Secretary and Vice President extensively discussed areas of mutual interest between both countries, encompassing such topics as sustainable tourism; social security; renewable energy; women’s empowerment; climate change and environmental preservation; and democratic strengthening.
The Vice President also stated that the Maldives is undergoing a lot of positive change and further expressed his hope for a bright future for all Maldivians. He further stated that the administration is pushing for more empowerment to local councils especially in economic activities with special emphasis on strengthening women’s participation in the economic life of the community.
