President Nasheed has said that the people of Maldives would attain a higher standard of living with the use of the rich natural resources of the country. The President made this statement while speaking to the people of Landhoo during his visit to the island this evening.
In his speech, President Nasheed also noted the importance of establishing a sufficient mechanism to provide the basic services to the people of the island. He further said that by the end of this year, the government would establish a sewerage system and a waste disposal system in Landhoo.
President Nasheed also noted that Landhoo is home to many historical sites. Further he said that the government would provide assistance to make the island as a tourist destination during the next five years.
The President will address the people of Manadhoo tonight as part of his visit to some islands of South Miladhunmadulu Atoll.
