Vice President Faisal Naseem has today launched the “Know Your Status” HIV testing campaign, as part of the World AIDS Day 2018. The launching event was held at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice President announced the administration’s plans to establish a multi-sectoral coordination mechanism to harmonize existing mechanisms, and to steer and oversee HIV prevention programs.
In his speech, Vice President Naseem underscored that HIV testing and knowing one’s status is essential to implementing successful, systematic prevention programs.
The Vice President also highlighted the importance of civil society and community based organizations in the AIDS prevention process, and stressed the need for increased funding to support civil society organizations in this cause.
As part of this year’s World AIDS Day campaign, Vice President Faisal Naseem participated in the “Know Your Status” HIV testing.
