President Nasheed has said that a lot of foreign investors were interested in investing in the Maldives. The President made this statement while speaking at the concluding meeting of introductory workshops on decentralisation. The meeting was held tonight at Kudahuvadhoo of South Nilandhe atoll.
Highlighting on the importance of decentralisation, the President thanked the people for their support and cooperation towards the decentralisation policy.
The President also reflected on the government’s efforts to deliver its electoral pledges and the achievements reached in this endeavour. Speaking in this regard, President Nasheed announced that the construction work of the 300 flats to be built in Kudahuvadhoo would start this year.
Stressing that the government would curb corruption, the President said that all activities would have to go through the proper channel and be conducted in a fully transparent manner.
At the meeting, the President was presented with a commemorative plaque on behalf of the people of Kudahuvadhoo. The plaque was presented by Mr Shathir Abdul Rahman, councillor for Kudahuvadhoo.
