Late Mariyam Saeed passed away in Sri Lanka after prolonged illness; she was 85 years of age.
Late Mariyam Saeed was born into a family of poets, and was widely recognized as a writer and poet. Moreover, in 1983 late Mariyam Saeed was conferred the National Award of Honour in the area of Dhivehi poetry.
