The Rector of the Islamic University of Madinah, His Excellency Dr Hatim bin Al Marzuki, called on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, this morning, at the President’s Office.
During the meeting discussions where held on the importance of countering radicalisation and the key role education can play in preventing radicalisaion. The Rector highlighted efforts by the University to, within their curriculum, curb radicalisation and pointed to opportunities in the University for Maldivian students to take up not only Shari'ah but also studies in technical disciplines such as engineering.
The Rector further congratulated President Yameen on the development that the President's Economic agenda has brought to the Maldives pointing to the several projects that were undertaken under the current administration.
The President was accompanied at the call by Chancellor of Islamic University of Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed and The Undersecretary at the President’s Office, Dr. Hussain Faiz.
