President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that the administration would not let developmental opportunities to pass us by or turn our backs on this country’s developmental path. The President made this remark while speaking at a function organized by the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) this afternoon.
The President pointed out that there was no reason for the Maldives to be held back from the developmental potential we deserved, noting that the current findings prove that the country had the highest GDP in the South Asian region.
Speaking at the function, President Yameen highlighted the key aspects of the proposed budget for 2018, and reiterated the challenges being faced by the current administration as a result of the debts passed on by previous administrations. He also spoke on the developmental achievements of 2017.
Highlighting that today marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the President noted the numerous opportunities being facilitated by this administration for the disabled population. He reassured that those with disabilities would never be marginalised during this administration’s term, and encouraged more State companies to welcome disabled individuals for employment.
