Noting that lack of water and sewerage services was a common challenge faced by a significant percentage of the country’s population, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that this administration aims to resolve this issue for at least 75% of the population by the end of the 5 year term. The President made this statement while speaking at the function held to inaugurate the Sewerage System of Maduvvari Island of North Maalhosmadulu Atoll, and conclusion of the island’s Beach Protection Project.
Speaking at the event, the President stated that the administration’s main priority was to determine the requirements of the people, and to work on fulfilling those needs of the people. He also highlighted the challenges being faced by the administration in taking on this endeavour.
In his speech, President Yameen shed light on the developmental projects carried out in Maduvvari Island by the current administration.
