President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that to achieve transformative development passionate community engagement is required.
The President further stated that the will to move beyond existing circumstances should come from within society and that one cannot expect those outside to come and work for reform and development. The President made this remark while speaking at North Huvadhoo Atoll Kolamaafushi this morning as part of his current visit to the Atoll.
President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim visited North Huvadhoo Atoll Kolamaafushi this morning, meeting with residents of the Island.
Speaking to the residents, the President stated that the Fisheries sector would not be left unattended. He further stated that the wisest course of action would be to focus on developing several sectors at the same time rather than one at a time. In this regard the President touched on some ongoing projects to develop the fisheries sector.
The President also highlighted that Maldives is not only a country well placed for tourism alone but one which was open to other foreign investments.
