President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that the main objective of this administration in attracting mega investment projects, such as the Extended Kooddoo Airport project was to increase job opportunities for Maldivians. He made this statement while speaking at the grand opening of the Extended Kooddoo Airport Maldives, held this evening.
Addressing the gathering, the President conveyed that he had personally urged the Kooddoo Airport Company to give priority to Maldivians when employing their staff. Continuing in this regard, the President appealed to all Maldivians to be more ethical in performing their jobs.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Yameen pointed out the fact that the increase in the number of airports all over the country was not only beneficial for the ease of transportation, but that it also contributed to the nation’s economic growth through the widespread of the tourism industry. He further stated that the development of the tourism industry will in turn generate more job opportunities and various business opportunities.
Moreover, the President underscored that the additional purpose for the development of airports all over the country was to extend the centralized tourism industry across the nation. He further reiterated that the current administration was an investor-friendly administration, who always welcomed investors with open arms.
