The Non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, His Excellency I Gusti Nugrah Ardiyasa, presented his Letter of Credence to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, this morning, at the President’s Office.

Following the ceremony, the President congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and conveyed greetings and good wishes to the President of Indonesia, H.E. Joko Widodo. Highlighting on economic and development cooperation, the President emphasised further strengthening of trade and commerce between the Maldives and Indonesia. He also expressed hope and confidence that the Maldives will continue to receive the same level of support, engagement and assistance from Indonesia in the future.

The Ambassador extended greetings from President Widodo to the President and noted that Indonesia and the Maldives have cooperated on a number of multilateral fronts over the four decades since the establishment of bilateral relations between the two countries. The Ambassador also conveyed assurances of his commitment to develop existing trade and economic ties during his tenure.

The President was accompanied at the call by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Asim and the Minister of State for Foreign Relations at the President’s Office, H.E. Mohamed Naseer.
