President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that the aim of the Administration in training 3,000 undergraduate teachers is to enhance the education quality and quality of the students. The President made this statement while addressing the special function to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of Majeediyya School.
While addressing at the function which was also attended by First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim, the President stated that the Administration aims to provide quality education to students; that this could be achieved by producing qualified teachers – the Administration has begun work to train 3,000 teachers at the undergraduate level.
The President highlighted the importance of a proper upbringing in order to achieve the dreams of the parents. At this point, the President stated that good quality education can be provided by producing well-trained teachers.
In his speech, the President noted Majeediyya School as the pioneer of Maldivian education and highlighted that the school had produced well-educated prestigious Maldivian citizens. Additionally, the President stated that every school must produce capable and self-confident students, because they are stepping into the real world to develop and promote the Nation.
Also, the President stated that the country has a large number of youth, hence it is important to fulfill the basic needs of the youth such as job opportunity and shelter; the Administration is working towards fulfilling these basic needs.
At tonight’s function, the President and First Lady were presented with an honorary plaque by Majeediyya School. In addition, the First Couple presented those who have served Majeediyya School for more than 20 years with a token of appreciation.
