Noting that every endeavour of the Administration was in favour of the people, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has appealed to all citizens for their support in all its undertakings. The President made this remark while addressing the people of Himmafushi Island today, at the function held to mark the completion of the island’s reclamation project. Under the project carried out by the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure, a total area of 21.6 hectors was reclaimed.

In his speech, the President welcomed all citizens to bring their concerns to the administration’s attention, without resorting to continuous protests - which leads to public discord. He also underscored the importance of recommendations for improvement on the administration’s part, instead of always calling out its shortcomings.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Yameen reminded that sustaining the Maldives as a peaceful country, with a people who respect one another, was in the hands of the citizens themselves. In this regard, the President noted that a country with a peace loving populace, who put forth justice and harmony, and upheld its laws; and is rich in resources, with a team at the forefront working hard to create value within its resources, would be unrivalled.

The President was accompanied at the ceremony by Minster of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, and the Deputy Vice President of the Progressive Party of Maldives, Parliament Member of Fonadhoo Constituency Hon. Abdul Raheem Abdulla.

The President has arrived back in Malé early this evening, following his visit to Thulusdhoo and Himmafushi islands today.
