President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has attended the inauguration of the “Empowering the next – 1000 photographers” photography training program initiated by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Economic Development. The training program was organised as part of the administration’s pledge to facilitate employment opportunities for youth. First Lady Madam Fathimath Ibrahim accompanied the President at the function this evening.
In her speech, Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Shiham noted the importance of skills training in technical fields for the overall development of the country. She said that this was not a time where you go to a job that is available, but rather one where you create the job you want. Speaking at the function, the Education Minister announced the administration’s plan to launch a similar training program for 1000 youngsters in computer coding during this year. She noted that this would lead to an increase in job opportunities, stating that this was the President’s aspirations for the Maldivian youth.
At the function held this evening, Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed noted the opportunities being facilitated for youth empowerment during President Yameen’s administration, and expressed his gratitude to the President. He also said that all State institutions will enable employment opportunities for the participants who complete the photography training program inaugurated this evening. He further said that the top 100 photographers of the course will get the chance for overseas trainings.
Following the inauguration of the “Empowering the next – 1000 photographers”, the President and First Lady inspected a photography display by the participants of the training program, and the Enterprise Development Hub. The Government has provided each participant of the 1000 photographers’ program with the latest cameras.
