President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, while addressing the inauguration of the new mosque, and harbour at North Nilandhe Atoll Magoodhoo Island, stated that it was the responsibility of every Administration to cooperate with people and to drive development.
The President stated that, irrespective of geographical location, when it came to development there should be no distinctions between islands whether small or large in terms of population; each Administration should work to fulfil basic needs, he said – adding that the contentment of the residents was essential.
The President stated that importance should be given towards following proper Islamic values, in order to maintain peace and harmony in the society and to enculture a well-disciplined people. Students will achieve better results when society is harmonious and their guardian’s content, the President said.
In his speech, the President pointed to the importance his Administration affords towards enhancing the education sector by advancing teachers – with investments in the education sector providing added value. The President added that the highest blessing a society could receive was to have well-educated and cultured citizens with leadership ability.
The President also highlighted that a future development project to be undertaken in North Nilandhe Atoll would create more jobs and financial opportunity for the people and announced that the a futsal stadium would be established in Magoodhoo Island by the end of the year.
Bilehdhoo Member of the People’s Majlis, Ahmed Mubeen presented the President with a plaque of appreciation recognizing his contributions to the development of Magoodhoo during the inauguration.
The 40.1 million rufiyaa harbour was built by the Maldives Contracting Company and measures 500 feet long and 250 feet wide.
