President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom on Tuesday night, while addressing the special function held to mark Fishermen’s Day in Gemanafushi island, announced that 2017 will see the commencement of the project to establish a sewerage system in Gemanafushi.

At the function, the President thanked Maldivian fishermen for their hard work. The President also thanked Tanzania’s Minister of Fisheries, Mr. Hamad Raashid Mohamed for attending this year’s Fishermen’s Day function and stated that agreements will be signed between Tanzania and the Maldives to carry out fisheries sector projects.
