President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom highlighted the need to manage natural resources wisely for our development while speaking to the people of North Huvadhoo Atoll, Villingilli island.

The President highlighted efforts by the Administration to resolve various issues faced by the residents of Villingilli and stated that at the beginning of 2017, work on the island’s sewerage system would get underway.

The President also pointed out that a major problem faced by large islands is the lack of proper roads and that by next year the island’s road project would be complete.

Additionally, the President stated those in uniform were prepared to face any threats to the country; assisted by the youth of the nation. The President added that the youth play a vital role in the nation and that the Administration gives importance in developing youth.

Highlighting the various developmental projects that are underway, the President pointed out that every inhabited island had at least two projects that were underway.

The President is currently in North Huvadhoo Atoll on an official visit. He is accompanied by Minister of Tourism, Hon. Moosa Zameer and Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Ziyad.
