President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom inaugurated Masjid-ul-Ibrahim at North Huvadhoo Atoll, Gemanafushi Island earlier today.

The Mosque which can accommodate up to 720 worshippers at a time was initiated by Sheesha Private Limited in memory of Gemanafushi Bandiyaage’s Late Ibrahim Ahmed. At the inauguration Mr. Ahmed Hassan Manik, of Sheesha Private Limited, presented the President with a replica of the Mihrab from Masjid-ul-Ibrahim.

The President then went on to inaugurate the newly established Ice Plant at Gemanafushi harbor. The 3.75 million rufiyaa Plant built by MIFCO, via the Government Loan Scheme, can produce up to 25 tons of ice daily. Upon the inauguration, the President also attended a fish filleting competition.

The President is currently in North Huvadhoo Atoll on an official visit. He is accompanied by Minister of Tourism, Hon. Moosa Zameer and Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Ziyad.
