The Ambassador of Germany H.E. Dr. Jürgen Morhard paid his farewell call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom at the President’s Office this morning.

During the call, the President expressed his gratitude to the contributions made by Germany especially in the tourism sector and in infrastructure development in Maldives. The President also highlighted Germany’s ongoing assistance in the environment sector and the contributions in development.

The President and the Ambassador noted that this year marks the golden jubilee of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Germany, and exchanged views in further enhancing the ties. The President and the Ambassador also noted the importance of attracting more German investors to the Maldives, particularly in the tourism sector. The President briefed the Ambassador about the policies and measures that the Government is taking to create a more invester-friendly environment in the Maldives.

The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Dr. Mohamed Shainee and Foreign Secretary Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed attended the call.
