Hussain Mohamed Didi of Galolhu Shabnamee Lodge, who has served at the President’s Office and the Presidential Palace, has passed away on Wednesday night. He was 67 years old.
On receiving the news, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom extended his condolences to his family. The President noted the late Hussain Mohamed Didi’s innumerable and invaluable services to the President’s Office, the Presidential Palace, the Government and the Nation; especially his contributions to the advancement of national craftsmanship. The late Hussain Mohamed Didi is the Uncle of the First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim.
The late Hussain Mohamed Didi served the Government for more than twenty three years. He filled the post of Director of Protocol and Ceremonial Affairs at the President’s Office, Personal Secretary to the President, Director at the Presidential Palace, Director General and Executive General. In addition he filled the post of Administrative officer in the Youth Council, Consultant for Hulhumale Greening Project and Assistant Agriculture Officer at the Ministry of Agriculture.
The late Hussain Mohamed Didi was a skilled, self-taught individual with experience in various vocational and technical fields with a passion for voluntary work. He was known for his dress design, carpentry, screen printing and construction expertise.
One of the most significant contributions by Hussain Mohamed Didi was designing work on Dharubaaruge and his personal supervision of the Dharubaaruge project. The Government awarded him a Special Award of Appreciation for Craftsmanship in the year 1990.
The late Hussain Mohamed Didi was known for his interest and passion for gardening.
He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
