Zakat Fund will fund follow-up reviews of patients who underwent bone marrow transplants

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has decided that the Zakat fund be utilise to facilitate the recommended one year follow-up medical review of the children who, a year ago, underwent bone marrow transplants. The initial transplants were also funded by the Zakat Fund.

Out of the 18 patients that underwent the transplant, and have since been under the care of Maldivian Blood Services for the past year, 12 have been completely cured of Thalassemia.
