This evening, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim visited ‘Fahi 913 Sports Festival’, which is being held to celebrate 913 days of the current Administration. This event was held at Kulhivaru Ekuveni stadium in Maafannu.
During the visit, President and First Lady watched the ongoing sports activities in this festival. This sports festival comprises of male and female tournaments on football, handball, basketball, bashi, baibala, running event and special sports activities for children. After watching the sports events, the President and the First Lady spent time with the youngsters participating in the festival on behalf of the sports academies. They also took part in a photo session with the children afterwards. Furthermore, President and First Lady also participated in the ‘Fahi 913’ cake cutting ceremony.
According to President Yameen’s campaign office, the main purpose of organizing ‘Fahi 913 Sports Festival’ was to create a cheerful environment where sports opportunities were provided to all the age groups. This Sports festival is the first of its kind to be held in Maldives.
Along with the President, members of the Ministerial cabinet and senior officials of the Government also participated in this event.
