President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that his Administration’s main focus is on the re-development of the nation. He made this remark on Tuesday afternoon at Maaen’boodhoo School while speaking during the ceremony held to officially inaugurate the Maaen’boodhoo Island harbour. President Yameen said that all the work was being done so that each and every civilian is provided the freedom to reside wherever they desire in harmony, which is ensured by the Maldivian constitution.

The President noted that terrorizing the people as an opposition political party or as the President will not be accepted by the people of Maldives. He further stated that all Political Parties should work on the betterment of the people of this nation.

Speaking in this regard, the President called on the opposition political parties to reconvene All-Party Talks if they have any issues regarding the Administration. He further stated that some of the opposition parties are spreading misinformation regarding this Administration and that he would appreciate it if they give their statements with proof and evidence.

Highlighting that today was World Press Freedom day; the President reiterated that mass media should be honest and more responsible in delivering the news of the Administration to the public.

During this ceremony the President was awarded a plaque of appreciation by the President of the Maaen’boodhoo council, on behalf of the people of the island. Apart from the President, Parliament member of Kudahuvadhoo constituency, Mr. Ahmed Amir addressed the attendees of the event.

The President was accompanied at the ceremony by Leader of Maldives Development Alliance and Member of Parliament for Meedhoo constituency, Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Parliament member of Fonadhoo constituency, Mr. Abdul Raheem Abdullah and Parliament member of Kudahuvadhoo constituency, Mr. Ahmed Amir.
