President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has appealed the nation to reflect on the 10 year development gap. The President made this remark while addressing the function held to inaugurate the North Huvadhoo Atoll Dhevvadhoo harbor. Before the harbor inauguration, the President also launched the newly built Ice Plant and laid the foundation of a new mosque to be built on the island.

While speaking at the function, the President stated that the last five years of President Maumoon’s tenure was marked by obstacles in the development, which hindered many development projects from being executed; characterizing it as a lost opportunity. Additionally, he said that the five years that followed were chaotic which again led to a halt in development.

The President also said that, today, the people of Dhevvadhoo would recognize that they have not been neglected. The President stated that, in fact, it is a matter of progressive and religious duty for us to be thankful and accept our blessings and try to move towards the establishing of services required by citizens.

The President also stated that the administration has no bias between people of Male’ and people who are not from Male’; we all are Maldivians belonging to the same race and religion he said.

Parliament Member of Gemanafushi constituency, Hon. Jameel Usman and head of Dhevvadhoo Council, Mr. Mohamed Didi also addressed the attendees.
The President was also accompanied at the function by Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muiz, Parliament Member of Vilimaale constituency Hon. Ahmed Nihan Hussainmanik and Senior officials of MTCC & MIFCO.
