President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of sympathy to the President of the Republic of Ecuador, His Excellency Rafael Correa, following the deadly earthquake which hit the western coastal area of Ecuador causing the loss of many lives.
The President’s message reads as follows:
“It was with deep shock and sorrow that I learnt of the deadly earthquake which hit the western coastal area of Ecuador causing the loss of many lives and injury, as well as significant damage and widespread devastation to the infrastructure.”
“The Government and the people of the Maldives join me in conveying our deepest sympathy to you, the Government and the people of Ecuador.”
“I wish every success in the rescue and recovery efforts of those who are directly affected by this tragedy. Please also convey our sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families.”
