President Establishes “Communications Authority of Maldives”

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has today established the “Communications Authority of Maldives” (CAM), as required by the Communications Authority of Maldives Act. The establishment of the institution abolishes the “Communication Authority of Maldives”, established under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The CAM Act authorises the institution to set guidelines for, and administer the spectrum, and all telecommunication and postal services in Maldives; and regulate info-communications in the country. The Act also permits the Communications Authority of Maldives all jurisdiction in implementing the Act.
