The Government is deeply disappointment by Ahdaalath Party and the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) not returning to the all-party political talks despite repeated requests to attend.
All Parties who attended the talks this evening (including Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party and Jumhooree Party who are not members of the Government Coalition) also expressed concern at not being able to move forward in the absence of the main opposition. The Parties agreed to resume talks tomorrow at 3 pm at which time it is their hope, and wish, that Adhaalath Party and MDP will re-join the talks, putting the interests of the nation, and its people, above political differences.
The Government is committed to providing a climate of sincerity, transparency and trust where all Parties, including the opposition, can resolve their disputes and move forward towards development and meaningful progress.
