President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has today ratified the Bill on Communications Authority of Maldives. The bill was passed by the Parliament at the 21st sitting of its third session, on 25th November 2015.
Following ratification, the Act has been published in the Government Gazette.
The Communications Authority of Maldives Act requires the establishment of an institution to set guidelines for, and administer all telecommunication and postal services in Maldives; and to regulate infocommunications in the country. The Act also states the responsibilities and jurisdiction of the institution.
