President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has presented the National Award of Honour and the National Award of Recognition on Tuesday evening. The awards were presented at the official function held at Dharubaaruge, to mark this year’s Republic Day.
Recipients of the National Award of Honour received a shield of honour, a badge of honour and a commemorative plaque, while the recipients of the National Award of Recognition received a commemorative plaque and a certificate.
Three individuals received the National Award of Honour this year. The three individuals are;
1. Uz. Ibrahim Rasheed Moosa, for his contribution in the area of religious awareness, services and religious education
2. Ms. Ramla Abdul Ghani, for her contribution in the area of Dhivehi literature (Dhivehi poetry)
3. Mr. Maizan Ahmed Manik, for his contribution in the area of fisheries (creating public awareness and training)
The 19 recipients of the National Award of Recognition are:
1. Al-Qari Ibrahim Shifau, in the area of recitation and teaching of Quran
2. Ms. Yashfa Abdul Ghani, in the area of Dhivehi Linguistics (promotion of story writing)
3. Ms. Aminath Zenysha Shaheed Zaki, in the area of Human Rights awareness
4. Mr. Abdulla Sobah, in the area of Tourism (promotion of culinary arts)
5. Dr. Ali Shameem, in the area of Social Services (contribution to community and youth development, and services beneficial to the society)
6. Ms. Maryam Faznee, in the area of Social Services (humanitarian service)
7. Mr. Abbas Mohamed, in the area of Economics and Enterprises (enterprise development)
8. Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim, in the area of Economics and Enterprises (pioneering and promoting new service enterprises)
9. Mr. Ilyas Mohamed, in the area of Transport (development of land transport and training)
10. Ms. Maryam Waheeda, in the area of Information and News Dissemination (presentation)
11. Mr. Sinan Ali, in the area of Information and News Dissemination (journalism and broadcasting)
12. Mr. Ahmed Hamdhoon, in the area of Information and News Dissemination (journalism)
13. Mr. Farhath Jaleel, in the area of Sports (professional sportsman and training)
14. Mr. Amir Mansoor, in the area of Sports (professional sportsman and technical services to sports development)
15. Mr. Ahmed Shakeeb, in the area of Sports (sports medicine)
16. Mr. Hussain Ali Manik, in the area of Visual Arts (illustration)
17. Mr. Yamin Rasheed, in the area of Visual Arts (computer arts and animation)
18. Mr. Mohamed Rilwan, in the area of Visual Arts (calligraphy and design)
19. Mr. Ibrahim Rasheed, in the area of Youth (volunteerism)
In his speech, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom extended his congratulations and warm wishes to all the recipients of this year’s National Awards.
