President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has announced the Government’s decision to provide 24-hour electricity supply in all inhabited islands, before the end of its 5-year term. The President made this announcement while addressing the people of Innamaadhoo Island, at the official inauguration of the Innamaadhoo Branch of Fenaka Corporation Limited, the island’s new power station.
In his speech, President Yameen noted that the Government’s scheme to provide round the clock electricity in all inhabited islands was part of its electoral pledges to provide better public services to the people. He also expressed his gratitude to Fenaka Corporation for its contribution made to fulfilling the Government’s key pledges.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President described the people of Innamadhoo as an example to all Maldivians, in bringing forth unity and cooperation in implementing urban and economic projects. The President also shed light on the future development schemes planned for the island by the Government.
