Vice President Ahmed Adheeb Abdul Ghafoor has said that introducing “Smart City” technology in the Maldives was a privilege that shows the country’s technological development. He made this remark while speaking at the launching of “Smart City” technology in Male’ and Hulhumale, a service provided by Ooredoo Maldives for urban areas which use ICT solutions to address mobile, transport, energy sustainability, infrastructure, governance and security issues. The function was held on Monday afternoon at Hotel Jen.
In his speech, the Vice President expressed his gratitude to the Chairman and team of Ooredoo for their remarkable work. He also noted that Male’ and Hulhumale being the second “Smart City” after Doha, shows the priority given by Ooredoo to invest in Maldives.
Further, the Vice President said that “President Yameen has embarked on a very ambitious economic plan which will diversify our economies, which will create new industries.” Additionally, the Vice President pointed out that the key elements for development were innovation and technology.
